Here is a list of the seven enhancements along with their added value for users:

Larger drive wheel

The larger drive wheel is used for greater adhesion of the filament. With large LGX drive wheels, more teeth are in contact with the filament at the same time. This increased adhesion and reduced the risk of filament abrasion. This feature, along with the stepper motor, also prevents damage from force feeding the filament into clogged or jammed hotends.

Filament switching lever

The metal hinge, wing bolt and spring have been replaced by a calibrated lever system with six preset positions. The first position of the lever (far left) loosens the engagement of the drive wheels with the filament, making it much easier to insert and remove the filament. Five additional positions provide repeatable settings to achieve the same results. The entire solution is compatible with abrasive, rigid, semi-flexible, flexible and soft material.

Multi-functional interface socket

The multifunctional interface socket is used for quick tool or application replacement. From bowden to direct drive and back again… quickly and easily. The same applies to the exchange of hotends.

The interface socket allows you to connect or replace interface plugs that serve different applications or hotends without opening the extruder and using only two screws. It is also suitable for Future Bondtech or third-party plugs that extend the range of currently available solutions.

Drive wheel maintenance window for easy cleaning and maintenance

It's not just that the extruder looks better with its drive wheels partially exposed, but more importantly it makes maintenance easier. The teeth of the wheels will be easier to clean and you can also vacuum up the dirt. This will make it easier to achieve a clean extruder without having to disassemble it.

Compact, light and symmetrical design

The new design ensures higher performance thanks to its lightness and small size. The extruder is symmetrical and compatible.

Types of mounting holes

The LGX is among the first extruders to come with so many types of mounting holes. Therefore, its setup is easy and flexible. And it doesn't matter if you grab it from the front, back, right or left. Thanks to its flexibility, it can be easily attached to most types of frames or support structures.

Unbleached packaging boxes without color printing

A small step in the right direction for a greener future. Bondtech abandoned the use of bleached boxes with color printing and started using boxes made of kraft paper. The black print is printed with ink that is composed only of sustainable material. And what's more, Bondtech LGX boxes are fully recyclable.

Other goodies:

Possibility to use the extruder also as a print head - LGX For Flexibles

Special connectors at the interface are designed so that the LGX™ For Flexibles assembly can be created . The system is based on cooling the cooling block with air. After installing the cooling block and interface plug, you can use the LGX extruder as a short filament path print head. The kit includes: Copperhead Hot Block, Copperhead LGX Heat Break and brass nozzle. The goal of this special assembly is to create a solution that would be compact for short filament paths to better handle flexible material. The LGX For Flexibles assembly can handle any material, but it can work especially well with flexible and soft materials.

The offer also includes an upgraded Bondtech LGX print head for Pruša MK3S printers, which you can purchase here .

Bowden reduction

You can connect a bowden reducer with a metal screw to the extruder, which comes with other accessories. The reducer plugs into the multi-function interface socket and then you can use the LGX extruder as a bowden extruder.

Upgrade kits suitable for using the LGX as a bowden extruder are also available. The LGX B for Anycubic Mega-X contains nothing more than the LGX itself. It is also suitable for those who want to use the LGX on other 3D printer models. You can buy it here

Reduction with the Direct Drive system

Connect the supplied Direct Drive interface reducer to the multi-function interface socket and you can use the LGX as a direct drive extruder. This reducer is compatible with the Slice Engineering mounting pattern of the Copperhead and Mosquito hotends.
