Magigoo is a company that has its roots in Malta. It focused its production on special adhesives improving adhesion in 3D printing. Behind the production of these adhesives is a team of scientists, engineers and enthusiasts who, in addition to the standard production of products, are also engaged in research and testing, during which they actually print on a 3D printer and investigate what the best composition of the adhesive will be to deal with one of the most common problems when printing on 3D printer - with poor adhesion. During the development of adhesives, they focus on the ideal chemical composition of the adhesive for the best adhesion, but also so that the adhesive can be used practically.

What printing mats will Magigoo glue work for?

Magigoo adhesives are designed for heated printing pads. The material from which the printing pad is made will fundamentally affect how Magigoo Adhesives will work. You can use them on different types of printing mats, but you will achieve the best results in combination with a glass mat. But even if you like to print on other types of material such as PEI foil, BuildTak foil, or use Kapton tape as an assistant, you can use Magigoo adhesives.

Through detailed testing, it has been found that using Magigoo glue in combination with certain filaments with a specific print mat material or foil can result in slightly lower print adhesion than if you were printing on a glass mat. But the adhesion will still be significantly higher than printing without glue.

The good news for sure is that using Magigoo adhesives can extend the life of the printing pad. For example, when using Magigoo Flex glue, which is specifically designed for filaments with flexible filaments, the glue acts as a separation layer that facilitates the removal of printed models.

Special glue for each group of filaments

Since each filament is made of a different material, it also has specific physical properties and temperature needs for printing. And related to this are the specific requirements for the composition of the adhesive glue.

The company Magigoo did not want to leave anything to chance and invented a special glue for each group of filaments, which can best adapt to the specific needs of each type of filament.

Název lepidla Typ filamentu, pro který je lepidlo určené
Magigoo Original PLA, ABS, PET-G, HIPS
Magigoo PA Nylon, Nylon-CF, Nylon-Gf
Magigoo PC PC, PC-ABS
Magigoo PP PP
Magigoo Flex TPE, TPC, TPU
Magigoo HT PEEK, PEKK, PVDF, Ultem
Magigoo PPGF GF-30PP
Magigoo Metal BASF Ultrafuse 316L

Using an adhesive designed for a specific filament will ensure the best adhesion and comfortable use. Otherwise, adhesion may be reduced, or you may have trouble removing prints after printing is complete.

For example, if you print ABS filament with a different type of glue than Magigoo Original, which is specifically designed for it, the print may stick too much to the printing mat.

Comfortable to use

All Magigoo glues are water-based and solvent-free. Thanks to this, they are non-flammable, which increases the safety of their use. And since they are water-soluble, they can be easily wiped off the printing pad with a wet cloth or sponge if necessary.

Glues are produced in classic plastic tubes, so unlike sprays that are in pressurized bottles, you can transport them without any problems. You can also pack the 50 ml smaller package in your hand luggage on the plane.

Using the adhesive is not difficult - just apply it to the printing mat in a thin layer, print the print, wait for it to cool and then remove the print from the mat. If necessary, the rest of the glue is simply washed off.

Why do adhesion problems so often arise? The reason is that the chemical composition of the filaments is very often different from the material of the printing pad or the foil used. This leads to different behavior of the material when heated and poor adhesion. Solving the adhesion problem directly while printing the model is actually only one part of the process, other inconveniences can arise when you try to remove the print from the printing pad. And this is exactly the thing that the Magigoo brand prides itself on with its adhesives.

A practical applicator, which is on the bottle with glue, also contributes to convenient use. Using it, you can easily spread the glue on the printing mat without other helpers such as a brush, etc. And at the same time, you only apply the glue to the area where you need it. Unlike spray where you can end up applying the adhesive to a larger area of the print pad than necessary and also splattering parts of the 3D printer or work surface.

The fact that you apply glue only to the parts of the printing mat where it is really needed ensures that you do not waste glue unnecessarily. One tube of glue should last more than 100 full-size prints on a medium-sized printer.
